Looking For A Plant Protein?

Looking For A Plant Protein?

You can ask my husband and he’ll tell you how picky I am about our food and our supplements. But, it’s a good picky. I look for quality + taste. I like to make sure there isn’t a million additives or preservations or artificial crap in our stuff. You can understand that right?  A supplement that I could just never find a good one of is plant protein.

It either has tons of junk ingredients or tastes like I’m eating dirt that is thick and gritty. Blech. Seriously, blech. I’ve always wondered how people could drink that stuff. I’m a big fan of whey protein, especially by Primal Kitchen. But, I do like to switch things up every so often. So, I’ve been on the lookout for one…

And let me just tell you, I’ve found one. A good one. Promise.

Enter in Nuzest!

I reached out to the company and wanted to try them out immediately before any type of partnering. I’ve crashed + burned before using plant proteins. I’ve had horrible experiences. So, they sent me four samples of the different flavors they have – chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and coffee. (Yes, COFFEE! It became my favorite flavor!)

And I really started to dig them. I can still taste the difference between my whey protein and this plant protein, but this plant protein tasted great. The taste wasn’t the first thing to draw me into this specific plant protein by Nuzest….it was the ingredient list.

nutrition facts

This chart from Oh Natural showed perfectly what you need to know about Nuzest’s protein. Look at the ingredients. No, I’m not talking macronutrients (carbs, proteins, and fat). I’m talking about the ingredients. It’s simple…

  • Pea Protein
  • Natural Flavors
  • Natural Food Coloring (Like from beets)

You seriously can NOT get any better than that. And this plant protein has all essential amino acids. Amino acids are the building blocks in our body. They help the growth of cells + the repair + maintenance of our cells. The essential amino acids are important due to we can only get them from our diet. Our bodies can’t make amino acids.

Tryptophan is one of the essential amino acids that is vital for regulating sleep. Leucine is an amino acid that helps the recovery of muscles after a workout. Leucine can also help with regulating blood sugar keeping insulin in check.

This plant protein is easily digestible and mixes well. Nuzest grows and harvests under strict regulations in France. Anti-nutrients that are naturally found in plants are removed in the process and doesn’t use harsh solvents or chemicals during the extraction process.

So, did I decide to partner up with Nuzest? You bet I did! I wanted to find something that I could recommend for vegans or vegetarians, even paleo! Something that was clean, gluten-free, GMO-free, soy free, dairy free, etc 🙂

Easy as pie. (Or should I say pea?)
