Lactation Cookies {Gluten Free + Dairy Free}

Mamas! You know I have your back! I’m so excited to release our newest recipe – Nuvitru lactation cookies! These are perfect to have on your bedside while you are nursing your little one because let’s be honest – there is serious MUNCHIES while breastfeeding. I remember it like yesterday.

While I couldn’t find any studies on oats + breastmilk, some moms swear by it and it’s been one of those tidbits that have been passed down for generations, BUT they are oats. In cookie format. Snack. You can sell me on it without the particular research. 😉 There are other known galactagogues, which are plants that increase the breast milk supply. The other galactagogues I use in the recipe are sesame seeds + almonds + cinnamon!

Some observational studies that were done said that some of these galactagogues could benefit in a psychological perspective. It’s reassuring when we’re sitting there breastfeeding our little one and we feel like we’re doing everything – like eating a cookie that can possibly help production! That’s a natural stress reliever because let’s be honest, this is NATURALLY a stressful time on the body. You’re providing food for your baby, your hormones are a little out of wack postpartum, you’re getting lack of sleep, etc. Eating a healthy cookie as a comfort food can be stress relieving.
